Ivan BaÅ”iÄ is a prizewinner of international competitions, a sought-after soloist, a passionate chamber musician, and ā a storyteller. Pristine sound, captivating phrasing and energy make his performances praised by audiences, while the current season sees Ivan perform with leading European orchestras, present a cycle of recitals in Zurich and win prizes at renowned piano competitions in JaĆ©n and Monza.
Through creative programming, openness to often neglected repertoire and energetic performances, Ivan has become a regular guest on festival stages in Europe, Asia and Africa ā in Davos, Gstaad, Porto, Gmunden, Cairo and Tokyo. A solid repertoire of piano concertos has led him to perform with the Musikkollegium Winterthur, Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano, Orquesta FilarmĆ³nica de MĆ”laga, RTS Symphony Orchestra, Roma Tre Orchestra, Orchestergesellschaft ZĆ¼rich, collaborating with conductors Srba DiniÄ, Massimiliano Matesic, Christian Schumann, Olivera SekuliÄ-Barac, Carlos Checa and Andrea Oddone.Ā
Ivan BaÅ”iÄ is a prizewinner of the recent editions of Premio de Piano JaĆ©n (2023), Rina Sala Gallo competition in Monza (2022) and the Concorso Internazionale Pianistico Roma (2021), winning a string of special prizes at each. His achievements have also been recognized with special acknowledgments: the prize of the "Cuomo" Foundation, the prestigious Kiefer Hablitzel Prize, as one of Switzerland's leading young musicians, and the Award for the Serbian Young Musician of the Year, winning this recognition twice (2014 and 2022).
After years of recording for radio and television, Ivan released his first compact disc in 2021 with the works of Mussorgsky and Ravel. During the pandemic, Ivan collaborated with the Swiss platform Art on Air and produced two online concerts and a world premiere of Giles Wollenmann's Piano Concerto. As a pioneer of works by contemporary composers, he had the honour of premiering works by Igor Jacimovic, Aleksandar S. VujiÄ, Giles Wollenmann and Predrag RepaniÄ.
Ivan BaÅ”iÄ has dedicated himself not only to concertizing but also to teaching and has been giving master classes since 2019. At present, Ivan serves as artistic assistant in the piano class of Prof. Konstantin Scherbakov at the Zurich University of the Arts.
Ivan BaÅ”iÄ was born in Belgrade, Serbia in 1996 and discovered classical music at the age of 5 when he urged his parents to take him to a music school. After completing his studies with prominent pedagogue Nevena PopoviÄ in Belgrade, he moved to Zurich in 2017 to learn the art of playing with world-renowned pianist Konstantin Scherbakov. Ivan has further shaped his artistic views by attending masterclasses with Boris Petrushansky, Jacques Rouvier, Vovka Ashkenazy and Stephen Bishop-Kovachevich.
